Library regulations
- Access to the Library is available during advertised opening hours or by prior appointment using the contact form on the website.
- All visitors must sign in on arrival and sign out before leaving.
- Visitors will be asked to provide contact details, research purpose, affiliation, and valid photo identification.
- Library materials are for use on the premises only and must not be removed from the Library.
- Library staff will retrieve and return items from shelves.
- Users must handle all books, archives, photographs, maps, and other materials carefully and follow staff instructions.
- Only pencils may be used near Library materials – no ink pens allowed in the Library.
- No food or drink is permitted in the Library
- Personal bags and large items must be placed in the area directed by staff.
- Quiet, respectful behaviour is expected at all times.
- Photography or copying of materials may be permitted for personal research only, subject to staff approval and copyright requirements.
- Flash photography, video recording, and public sharing of reproductions require prior permission.
- Users must comply with New Zealand copyright law and respect any restrictions placed on individual items.
- Any damage, concerns, or handling issues must be reported to staff immediately.
- The Library may refuse, suspend, or withdraw access where these expectations are not followed.
